On Thursday 24 September, Spruce landed in every Aldi in the country. Not tucked away on a back shelf, either: in the Middle Aisle. The most famous aisle in British shopping.
It has genuinely been the most stressful ride so far. Here's how it happened.
Five weeks, start to finish
I didn't get formal confirmation from Aldi until the third week of August. By then I was already committed: stock ordered, money spent. Gulp.
- Before the yesAll in, earlyStock ordered and money spent before anything was signed.
- Third week of AugustAldi says yesFormal confirmation, about five weeks before launch day.
- SeptemberOur biggest run yetThe biggest production run we've ever done. My parents did a seven-hour round trip to pull a shift in the factory and help us get through it.

Not just our usual electrolytes
We didn't want to just turn up with our usual line-up and call it a day. So we dropped three flavours, and two of them you'd never seen before.
Alongside our OG Lemon & Pomegranate, we made two Aldi-exclusive daily electrolytes: Lime & Mint and Peach & Orange. I think they're two of the best flavours we've ever made.

Every one of them is sugar free and made with real fruit, which is genuinely rare for a soluble powder, with an everyday amount of sodium. Not too much, not too little.
Lime & Mint here is a daily electrolyte, made for Aldi. It's a different blend from our Revive water enhancer, which is also lime and mint.
Why the Middle Aisle
The Middle Aisle is an icon in my house. It has its own line in our household budget, and every time my wife walks into Aldi I get a flurry of excited WhatsApps.
So the idea that our loyal customers, and total strangers, could pick up a box of Spruce for under a fiver, right next to a barbecue, a mini electric hoover and a spicy Korean sauce, is hugely exciting to me.
If you spot us, snap it and tag us. I want to see your best Middle Aisle haul (as long as Spruce is in it).
So, about those new flavours
They were only ever meant to be an Aldi thing. When they're gone, they're gone.
But the response has been brilliant, and we keep getting the same question: can I get Lime & Mint or Peach & Orange anywhere else?
Thank you to everyone who picked up a box, sent us a photo or made a detour to the Middle Aisle. If this goes well, we're hoping to be invited back for more.
Yours Sprucefully, Jonny, Head Water Boy
